The opening and closing part of the butterfly valve is a disc-shaped butterfly plate, which rotates around its own axis in the valve body to realize opening and closing or adjustment. The butterfly valve is generally within 900 from fully open to fully closed, and neither the butterfly valve nor the butterfly valve stem has a powerful self-locking function. For the positioning of the butterfly plate, a worm gear reducer should be installed on the valve stem. The use of worm gear reducer can not only make the butterfly plate have self-locking ability, stop the butterfly plate at any position, but also improve the operating performance of the valve.

The industrial butterfly valve is characterized by high temperature resistance, high applicable pressure range, large nominal diameter, and carbon steel valve body and metal ring instead of rubber ring. Large high-temperature butterfly valves are welded from steel plates and are mainly used for flue gas pipelines and gas pipelines for high-temperature media.

The advantages of butterfly valves are as follows: 1. It is convenient, fast, labor-saving, low fluid resistance, and can be operated frequently. 2. Simple structure, small size and light weight. 3. Mud can be transported, and there is less fluid accumulation in the nozzle. 4. Good sealing can be achieved under low pressure. 5. Good adjustment performance.

The disadvantages of butterfly valves are as follows: 1. The working pressure and working temperature range are small. 2. Poor sealing performance.

Butterfly valves can be divided into partial plate butterfly valves, vertical plate butterfly valves, inclined plate butterfly valves and lever butterfly valves. According to the sealing form, it can be divided into two types: relative sealing butterfly valve and hard sealing butterfly valve. The soft seal type is generally sealed with a rubber ring, and the hard seal type is generally sealed with a metal ring.

According to the connection type, it can be divided into flange connection butterfly valve and disc connection butterfly valve; according to the transmission mode, it can be divided into manual butterfly valve, gear butterfly valve, pneumatic butterfly valve, hydraulic butterfly valve and electric butterfly valve .

The installation and maintenance of butterfly valve should pay attention to the following items: 1. When installing, the disc should stop in the closed position. 2. The opening position should be determined according to the rotation angle of the butterfly plate. 3. For the butterfly valve with bypass valve, open it before opening the bypass valve. 4. The installation should be carried out in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions, and the heavy-weight butterfly valve should be provided with a solid foundation.
